On Sep.17th,2011,a new “To Cherish the Origin of Life” coastal clean-up event was successfully launched.That day was exactly the ‘International Shore Clean-up Day’,so it is estimated that over 100 countries and regions will hold this kind of the clean-up evevnts all over the world.The event held by us is the Chinese section of the whole international event.Our event was still launched on the No.6 Nanhui Zui Shore.This time,about 200 volunteers from East Sea Ocean Standards and Metrology Center of State Ocean Administration, Johnson&Johnson(China),Shanghai Rendu,Wild Brid Society of Shanghai,Shanghai Oasis,and the 5 specially invited autistic patients families took part in our event.
The volunteers wearing rubber gloves, along the berm stone, picked up the plastic bag, fishing net, buoys and other garbage, and then put them into the garbage bag.At the same time, they recorded the items, numbers and other information into the categories on the International Coastal Cleanup Data Card designed by ICC which would be of great use to further the research on the garbage formation of the Nanhui Zui Shore.After one hour’s work,volunteers achieved a lot. Detailed analysis report will be announced to everybody later. Finally, our ecological docent volunteers made a wonderful ecological explanation to everyone,in order to help the people understand and observe the local life of the Nanhui East Coast. We sincerely hope that through such activities can awaken the deep love of everyone on the original nature.
Thanks to the arrangement by the Communist Youth League and Labour committee of Shengang Subdistrict Office.Shanghai Puxin Cleaning Service Company sent a truck waiting until the event ended at 4 p.m. to transport the garbage. We appreciate their early arrival and efficient labour and we are deeply grateful to their patience and diligence.
Finally, we must express our gratitude to East Sea Ocean Environment Supervision Centre and Standards and Metrology Center of State Ocean Administration for their advice and support.
